Abstract: Innovationen im Verkehrs- und Mobilitätssystem gehen mit räumlichen, gesellschaftlichen und ökologischen Wirkungen einher – dies gilt auch für die Digitalisierung und Automatisierung und bedingt einen systemischen Forschungszugang zum Thema. Die BMVIT Stiftungsprofessur wird inter- und transdisziplinär mit breiten methodischen Zugängen die Wechselwirkungen und Zusammenhänge zwischen der zu erwartenden technologischen Entwicklung einerseits und dem Wirkungsgefüge Mensch, Gesellschaft, Raum, Umwelt und Wirtschaft andererseits untersuchen. Ziel der Stiftungsprofessur ist es, durch die Schaffung einer fundierten Evidenzbasis beizutragen, negative Systemwirkungen zu vermeiden, aus gesellschaftlicher Sicht geeignete Rahmenbedingungen (beispielsweise rechtlicher und infrastruktureller Art) zu identifizieren, ihre Realisierung zu fördern sowie erfolgsversprechende Planungsverfahren, -methoden und -materialien zu entwickeln. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der Unterstützung öffentlicher und privatwirtschaftlicher EntscheidungsträgerInnen, um faktenbasiert sowohl wirtschaftliche Impulse setzen zu können als auch eine gesellschaftlich wünschenswerte nachhaltige Entwicklung zu fördern.
