FFoQSI: 2.4.4 Processing and quality improvement of spices and spice oils
Abstract
It is the aim to assure and improve the quality and safety of spices along the production chain and to investigate further processing concepts such as the recovery of spice oils. This involves the investigation of disinfestation and new decontamination steps for spices as well as the assurance of their shelf life including quality and safety during storage and use. In addition, supercritical CO2 extraction will be investigated in order to develop technological solutions for the extraction of high value spice oils.
