RockFor: Efficiency of the protective function of mountain forest against rockfall
Abstract
Protection against natural hazards is an important function of mountain forests. The objective of this project part is to investigate the relations between rockfall and forest. Methods to characterise the efficiency of forest stands against rockfall will be developed and the impact of rockfall on forests will be analysed. As a result the protective ability of Austrian forests against rockfall will be described and a rockfall modul will be incorporated in a forest growth model.
