Beaver managment in the province Burgenland
Abstract
The distribution and rising number of beaver settlements (Castor fiber) along various waterbodies are recently causing increasing awareness and a variety of conflicts due to human landuse also in the province of Burgenland. In general fields of conflicts cover water management, infrastructure and fishponds as well as adverse effects due to beaver activities in cultivated areas. The setup and implementation of a beaver management should help to develop appropriate measures to reduce and solve these conflicts in practice.
