Cooperation for innovative approach in sustainable forest management training
Abstract
With constant policy changes related to sustainable management of natural resources, including forests, environmental and nature protection on EU and other levels, there is growing need for new knowledge and skills for natural resource managers who finished their formal education. Project partners are facing the fact that forestry professionals, especially those young and unemployed, private forest owners (PFOs), and managers of protected areas are lacking necessary knowledge and skills, and currently there is no programme present that would address those needs. The objectives of this project are: 1) to develop an innovative training programme in sustainable forest management (SFM) for VET learners (forestry professionals, private forest owners, entrepreneurs in forestry, professionals in public institutions for management of protected areas) including teaching and learning materials, and 2) to implement innovative training programme for VET learners in SFM by project partners in Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.
