Economic monitoring of South Tyrolian farm forestry
Abstract
The aim of the research project is the development of an economic monitoring system for South Tyrolean farm forests. At the same time, the method 'Forest Accountancy Data Networks' (FAN), which was significantly developed at the Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Economics, is to be applied, adapted and ultimately further developed. The long-term goal is establishing an FAN for South Tyrol comparable to the ones in Austria and parts of Germany. The project deals with the development of a specific framework of key figures, cost centers, cost types and income types in cooperation with EURAC-Research (Bolzano, Italy), an initial data collection for the financial years 2017-2019 as well as the individual and interfirm evaluation of these. The results of the project serve primarily three target groups: (i) forest managers receive business information on forestry, including the possibility of anonymous interfirm comparisons; (ii) Results from FANs support decision makers, e.g. in the awarding of subsidies; (iii) The value of FANs from a scientific point of view for many tasks has been confirmed several times. This research project has set itself the goal of promoting the international economic comparison of farm forestry. The results of the project will be published scientifically and presented at scientific conferences.
