Multi-actor design of low-waste food value chains through the demonstration of innovative solutions to reduce food loss and waste
Abstract
LOWINFOOD supports the reduction of food waste in the EU by identifying innovative solutions and demonstrating them involving several actors along the value chain. The main objective of the project is to design low-waste value chains by implementing and validating sustainable innovations in the areas of production and distribution of fruit & vegetables, bakery products and fish, as well as consumption at home and out of home. The validation includes the effectiveness and efficiency of the demonstration projects as well as ecological and socio-economic impacts.
