Biological Decontamination of Ochratoxin A containing Feedstuff
Abstract
The main phases of the project are the production of Ochratoxin A (OTA), analytics, the isolation and characterisation of Ochratoxin A degrading microorganisms, the fermentation of the same and the investigation of the obtained products in feeding trails. For the screening of microorganisms, the Ochratoxin A is produced in liquid media, for feeding trials, wheat is used as substrate for the production of this toxin. The chemical part of the project implies the clean up of the mycotoxin, the analyses of the production and screening experiments and the investigation of metabolites. Isolates which are obtained during the screening for OTA-degrading activity are characterised and classified by physiological methods and genetic approaches. By fermentation of the microbes sufficient amounts of products are obtained which are tested in in-vitro detoxification tests as well as in feeding trails.
