Monetary Evaluation of CO2 Emissions in selected nature conservation areas
Abstract
Agricultural use of peatland modifies the exchange of greenhouse gases (Carbon Dioxide, Laughing Gas, Methane), thereby contributing to global warming. The Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Economics analyses the microeconomic effects of a climate-friendly agricultural use of peatland. The analysis takes place in selected German nature conservation areas. Aim of the research project is to estimate in these areas the potential of carbon dioxide emission reductions by reducing land use intensity and to calculate resulting costs for land users.
