Climatic change and Douglas fir in Austria
Abstract
The mission of this project is to assess Doglas fir stands planted about 100 years ago. Douglas fir is considered to be one of the key tree species for forest adapation under potential climate change. Thus the existing Douglas fir forests in Austria are of increasing interest. We are spefically intersted in - the genetic variablity of these stands - where do the seed sources come from - is the resulting growth a result of the genetic resources or the soil type - how can we implement the findings in existing ecosystem models to enhance our knowledge related to forest adaptaion and potential climate change
