Use of selected polyphenol sources in poultry fattening - impact on the digestibility of nutrients and instestinal morphology
Abstract
Polyphenols are secondary plant ingredients which are expected to have antioxidant, anticarcinogen,anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities, depending on the substance classes contained in the feed. In addition, polyphenols (condensed tannins, CT) interact with proteins and can restrict the digestion of proteins in monogastric animal species. In plants, polyphenols are present in combination with other phytochemicals, but above all with different contents of fiber components.
