Abstract
Hydrothermal treatment of feed (FM) influences protein availability in rumen in ruminant nutrition. The main reasons for this are the consequences of processing and the protein denaturation (to a small extent) and the Maillard reaction (with sufficiently available reduced sugar contents). These biochemical processes are used in animal nutrition to control protein availability in the rumen. Especially for high-yielding dairy cows, a high proportion of bypass protein is necessary to meet the requirements of the animal.
