ENERDEC - Maximum energy yield from organic wastes and decontamination to a high quality organic fertilizer by microbiological hybrid process
Abstract
The EU-CRAFT-project ENERDEC is a combined effort of 5 companies and 3 research institutions. The aim of the European commission to support this project is to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises by the transfer of knowledge available at the research level, because these companies form the basis of the European economy. The task of the ENERDEC project is to develop a stable and economic integrated process for the treatment of organic wastes by the conversion into biogas and valuable fertilizers. The basic concept is the separation of the organic waste into a solid and a liquid phase. The solid fraction is treated by composting whereas the liquid fraction is feed into a anaerobic digestion process. The project comprises five workpackages: i)Optimization of the solid-liquid separation, ii) Increase of the efficiency of the anaerobic digestion process with respect to biogas yield, iii) Management of the digested Residues, iv) Liquid digested Residues Treatment, v) Biogas purification. At the FA-Tulln the working packages 2 and 4 are executed.
