Conceptualizing and implementing a web platform for crowd-governance of socio-ecological systems
Abstract
Multi-national corporations (MNCs) act today in highly complex, adaptive value chains that are not accessible for national mechanisms of democratic control. MNCs base their production and management decisions on data that are collected and analyzed at multiple levels ranging from the single consumer to aggregate markets. In contrast, consumers have only limited opportunity to base buying decisions on more than the elaborate image created by MNCs to market products. The primary objective of PINI is to explore options for reclaiming control of socio-ecological systems and to create incentives for MNCs to act socially and ecologically sustainable.
