Bioclimatic factors of Soil Bioengineering and vegetation technology
Abstract
The microclimate of the school environment has a major influence on the quality of stay in school gardens. That’s why it’s so important to design schools and school gardens in a microclimate-friendly way to increase the quality of stay outdoors and to promote well-being and comfort in school. The question to be studied is which factors (e.g. vegetation, relief…) affect the microclimate in a positive way. Answers should be found together in experiments, workshops and excursions. The aim of the project is to awaken the interest of pupils to the issue of microclimate during seminars, hands-on-experiments and field trips and to show them how climatic factors like wind, air- and soil humidity or sun radiation as well as the existence of plants or aspects concerning construction technology can have a positive or negative influence on the microclimate.
