- Abstract
- Within the project LACTO-plus basic investigations for valorising waste-streams of lactose whey processing will be performed. Firstly, the effluents of an industrial lactose whey processing company will be analysed and potentials for co-products evaluated. Secondly, specific process residues (or further treated streams or mixtures) will be selected to perform basic experiments for generating bulk chemicals such as (i) lactic acid, (ii) succinic acid and (iii) PHB/PHA and to separate (iv) milk minerals. The investigated valorisation strategies will be assessed applying a (pre-)feasibility approach. Final evaluation will deliver a defined focus for future R&D work.
