Regional Floodplain Management and Risk Transfer Mechnisms: assessing options for climate adaption - Teilprojekt Konstruktiver Wasserbau
Abstract
The project RegioFlood investigates the opportunities and constraints of establishing mechanisms of risk transfer for regional floodplain management under the conditions of climate and land use change by focusing on the integration of knowledge from different scientific disciplines and stakeholders. RegioFlood aims at providing policy-relevant insights about regional floodplain management as climate adaptation measure. The project applies a novel approach for floodplain evaluation integrating political, land use, hydrological/hydraulic and economic parameters. Final results are derived from comparing the applicability of different risk transfer and compensation mechanisms in two catchment areas as local case studies. Relevant stakeholders will be involved through regional/local workshops.
