Contributions of spatial planning to CAMARO-D: “Cooperating towards advanced management routines for land use impacts on the water regime in the Danube river basin”
Abstract
CAMARO-D aims at a cross-border riverine and flood risk management in the Danube river basin. The Institute of Spatial Planning, Environmental Planning and Land Rearrangement (IRUB) is an "external partner" in this project focusing on the topic spatial planning and flood risk management. Regarding the Austrian conditions IRUB provides the following expert contributions: - Peer review of land use practices and their impacts - Review of best management practices - SWOT analysis of existing policy instruments - Report of applicable recommendations in the field of spatial planning - Transnational adaptation plan for integrated land-use management - Synthesis report of joint standards for function oriented landuse management and spatial planning within the Danube River Basin - Reviewed and fine-tuned guiding tool as a framework for the Land Use Development Plan Furthermore IRUB provides contributions to the Pilot Action "Flood risk management in the Enns valley in Styria" focusing on the management of flood retention areas in the Enns valley and on the integration of surface run-off hazards in local land use planning.
