NIR - fast process control
Abstract
The application of multivariate data analysis in combination with a corresponding reference method is known as a useful tool in quality control in various fields. Areas of application include the pulp and paper industry. Numerous applications focus on kappa number or lignin content determination. Examples of characterization of the polysaccharides contained in the pulp are rather rare. In particular, special applications in the field of sugar characterization, but also in terms of the reactivity of the pulps need to be researched even better. The proposed approach is based on near-infrared spectroscopy, as this technique is generally less sensitive to the presence of water and, in combination with chemometric methods, can be more easily transferred to a production environment.
