Compartive Study of Governance of Climate Adaptation Strategies in the Alpine Region in the Frame of the Project AlpGov and EUSALP (Action group 8)
Abstract
The consequences of climate change have a significant impact on natural hazard management, especially in the Alpine region. The existing protection strategies and measures have proven themselves in many ways, but constantly need to be adapted and improved, in particular in the light of changing climatic, environmental and living conditions. The cooperative research project, as a part of the Interreg Alpine Space Project AlpGov, compiles the scientific basis in the context of climate change adaptation and risk management applying a literature review, expert interviews and workshops. The aim of this project is to review the current state-of-the-art on governance mechanisms in climate change adaptation and to provide contributions to enhance a coherence of governance in the Alpine Space by identifying synergies between risk management and climate adaptation strategies.
