Abstract

For the simulation of wood and wood products, material properties must be determined in different wood anatomical directions and in different length scales. Mechanical properties of hardwood and especially of neophytes (e.g. Paulownia) are not available in the literature. Special mechanical properties such as shear values and uniaxial tensile and compression tests transverse to the fiber orientation are not available. In addition, it is necessary to develop new test setups for some properties. On the one hand, in this project the mechanical parameters of hardwood species and wood products are determined. On the other hand, new test arrangements will be investigated and established for further projects.
