Sustainable climate-friendly urban squares and streetscapes
Abstract
Getting hotter summers and frequently recurring hot spells lead to changed demands on the design and furnishing of public space in Vienna. The necessary adaptation steps include cooling measures by means of unsealing, greening, water elements and (structural) shade. The City of Vienna has addressed these requirements within the framework of various strategies, activities and projects. The project will investigate the experiences and knowledge about climate-friendly urban public spaces and streets. The aim is to collect and process the knowledge in order to ensure a sustainable implementation.
