impacts of gender balance on wood based value chains: women in leadership and management
Abstract
In many countries, women's forestry networks have been formed to make institutions more gender equitable and to further develop their structures. The motivations, goals, activities and forms of these networks differ depending on the framework conditions and the specific challenges in the countries. These networks not only support women in the industry (such as forest owners) but are also suitable for promoting the discussion of traditional gender images in the sector and thus supporting an adjustment of the sector to social changes. The study is intended to support the Austrian women's network in its function and identify any necessary political measures. The results are to flow into the program of the planned forest women conference “Forest in women's hands” and become part of the country report of the IUFRO task force “Gender and forestry”.
