Scoping and Preperation for the Austrian Assessment Report 2024 AAR24 - BOKU-Met Contribution
Abstract
The scientific work on climate change and its impacts in Austria, which will be summarized in the new Austrian Assessment Report 2024, is largely based on the Austrian climate scenarios ÖKS 15, which have the global climate models of the generation CMIP 5 (Climate Model Intercomparison Program) or even scenarios from CMIP3 in the background. Within the currently produced next IPCC report AR6, which is expected to be published in October 2021, the climate scenarios of the next global model generation CMIP6 will be presented and introduces as the "state of the art" . In order to be able to take the CMIP6 results into account in the AAR24, a systematic comparison between the old and the new climate scenarios will be carried out by comparing the climate change signals, related to a reference period.
