Vegetationsentwicklung auf Böschungen der Koralmbahn
Abstract
ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG is also responsible for the adjacent areas (embankments) along railway lines. On these areas, a vegetation cover is of particular importance for slope stability. From a geotechnical point of view, a closed vegetation cover provides erosion protection for the near-surface layers of the embankment through the roots and the evaporation capacity. The soil and plant sectors must be optimally coordinated and are essential for a sustainable ecosystem performance (soil mechanics, water balance, vegetation) of an embankment. In a first phase, the vegetation on the existing slope will be analysed and a concept for field trials will be developed on the basis of this analysis. Several variants will be investigated with regard to site-appropriate seed mixtures and various cover materials. The aim of the investigations is to develop a decision-making basis for the implementation of greening measures on local railway embankments of the Koralm railway.
