Abstract
The personality of G.J. Mendel and his discoveries can be described as the common heritage and cross-border symbol of the AT-CZ region. Mendel's biography shows that he was closely connected with the cities of Vienna and Brno. The Brno Augustinian order sent Mendel to study at the University of Vienna, where he was able to acquire the academic knowledge that he would later use in Brno during his famous experiments with peas in his greenhouse.

The main aim of the project is to express Mendel's legacy by creating a space for cross-border collaboration and cultural and scientific exchange. We expect a positive change and deepening of cross-border cooperation based on regular meetings at cultural and scientific events that help spread Mendel's legacy.

The main result of the project will be a renovated Mendel greenhouse that will be transformed into an innovative multifunctional space for cultural and scientific events as opposed to its original use as a greenhouse. The architecturally appealing, accessible restoration will enable the deepening of mutual relationships and networking of the citizens in the regions.

The aim of the accompanying activities of the project is, among other things, to develop a strategic plan for the use of the greenhouse. The basic framework for this use has already been developed and will be further worked out during the course of the project together with all partners in order to ensure the sustainability of the project, as well as the involvement of the population of the border regions in the implementation of the project goals. Another output will be digital materials for a traveling Citizen Science Workshop, as well as newly established scientific collaborations between researchers in Austria and the Czech Republic.
