Abstract
The Pan-European concept of SFM has been a success story for more than 30 years as it has safeguarded a common approach for dialogue, monitoring, and policymaking across Europe. In the meantime, forest policy and management have been confronted with emerging challenges in both the changing environment but also altering political frame conditions. The C&I of SFM have been the most powerful tool for evaluating SFM. In the current policy debate, biodiversity is high on the agenda. The SFM Think Tank meetings will be milestones for the FOREST EUROPE work on biodiversity indicators. For this a survey shall be conducted on existing biodiversity indicators. Results shall comprise an outlook on additional and/or alternative indicators.
