- Abstract
- The main goals of the project are:¿
to improve the structures and technologies of logging, transport and timber trade¿to raise added value in Austria
For reaching the main goals the disadvantages of the very small scaled forest ownership pattern in Austria have to be surmounted and the continuous supply with small timber from thinning has to be ensured. There is an increasing demand of the wood industry for in time supplied and customer-oriented small timber in Austria. On the one hand exits a large green stock, but on the other hand the continuous supply with small wood - especially out of the numerous small forest plots - is a problem.
To get to modern logistic concept that both fit to different conditions in Austria and create added value the following tasks have to be answered:
Process analysis of actually used wood harvesting systems and of their most important requirements.
Estimating the real harvesting potential¿
Process improvement considering local conditions¿
Expectations of the wood processing industries¿
Implementation of modern logistic concepts
