Abstract
This project has the overall goal to quantify the multiseasonal development of bark beetle (Ips typographus) antagonists (esp. of pathogens) in expanding infestation spots and the possible impact of pathogens in bark beetle population dynamics. The underlying hypothesis is: the expansion of unmanaged infestation spots continues up to a point where the natural enemies become too abundant and the surviving bark beetles migrate to other parts of the forest. Furthermore, this study is a consecutive project of the project and it is embedded in COST action E16 "Bark and wood boring insects in living trees (BAWBILT)".
