Investigations on fish-ecology of man made created structures of river habitats on the river Danube in the region of Vienna and Györ
Abstract
The project deals with newly constructed habitats in the area of the "Danube Island" in Vienna and the related fish ecological status. The effects of linking the Danube with the new habitats and the backwaters near Klosterneuburg, upstream of Vienna is also part of the study. Two main questions are to be dealt with: first to assess the ecological integrity and second to investigate the interaction of fish and macrophytes in the newly constructed habitats in the menioned areas in context with the impundment Freudenau.
