Abstract
Most of the radiative transfer that are used nowadays are 1-dimensional. 1-D radiative transfer models are however very often inaccurate, because many effects such as the influence of inhomogeneous cloud fields or the influence of the surrounding topography are not taken sufficiently into account.
Within the scope of this project a 3-D radiative transfer model is adapted in order to simulate the influence of the topography on the 3-D radiation field in the shortwave and in the thermal I.R wavelength ranges
First simulations will be performed for real cases (Hoher Sonnblick Observatory and Gstettner Alm/Grünloch near Lunz).

The second part of this project deals with modelling of radiation in plant canopies. Monte Carlo modelling is used to determine the 3-D radiation field in Canopies
