KATER II Teilprojekt ILEN
Abstract
Principally, the project aims at safeguarding water supply and the required, largely natural conditions of the catchment areas. The conflicts between often incompatible land-use activities by necessity lead to effects of high relevance for regional planning. To facilitate and optimise the decision-making process relating to the problems of land use/water management/environmental protection, it seems useful to develop and implement a decision support system. This work should be based on the scientific and methodological considerations derived from the results of the KATER project. The main objective of this project is to develop methods and instruments for the capturing and analysis of all information required to ensure sustainable spring protection in karstic areas with specific consideration of the aspects of ongoing administration, crisis management and planning. These considerations will be incorporated into a set of rules referring on the one hand to data collection and on the other hand to technical implementation through software tools.
