Processing of products using multifunctional fluidised bed technology
Abstract
In addition to the existing fermentation pilot plant at the Institute for Environmental Biotechnology a fluid bed equipment for drying, granulation and coating is put into operation. Within the scope of this project the following areas of research are covered: - Drying, granulation, and coating of living microorganisms - Drying and coating of enzymes - Drying and granulation of complex cell components - Drying and coating of food and speciality products The aim is to obtains specific properties for each product, like high cfu count, solubility, shelf life, resistance to gastric fluid, etc. Along with the optimization of technical parameters and the evaluation of diverse carrier and coating materials the optimization of the interactions between fermentation, concetration of products, drying, and formulation is of major importance.
