Our European Cultural Landscape Heritage
Abstract
Introduction Cultural landscapes are an essential part of our heritage and present lives as aspects of our origin and development through theirs forms, features and history of use. The cultural landscapes of Europe are main contributors to the European biodiversity; they are a significant part of European heritage and witness of the past and present relationship between man and his natural and built environment. As cultural heritage cultural landscapes are both the visible and the invisible landscape with the knowledgebase, its myths, believes and folkloristic tradition. They highly contribute to European quality of life, being basic for European identity. Long term results and objectives The project aims to contribute to the promotion of this cultural area common to the European peoples and enlighten the values of the Cultural Landscapes. It aims to raise awareness for protection of Cultural Landscapes in Europe as part of our European Common Heritage among the public and political opinion and increase knowledge on the importance of these landscapes at a local, national and European level. Project objectives The project will promote trans-national dissemination and documentation of common European cultural landscape heritage through a cooperation between scientists, cultural operators and promoters as a network of partners and strengthen the cooperation between cultural operators to further development of instruments for trans-national dissemination to ensure safeguarding of the cultural landscape heritage of Europe for generations to come.
