Identification and production of microorganisms and bioactive compounds to control Fusarium Head Blight
Abstract
The activities at the Institute of Environmental Biotechnology aim to isolate and produce microbial antagonists against Fusarium head blight on wheat. In a first step microorganisms are isolated from wheat plants. Subsequently suitable screening method are developed in order to evaluate the efficacy of the isolates. In addition the efficacy is tested directly on wheat plants in the greenhouse and on the field. Effective Isolates are identified and potential risks are assessed. Production processes on laboratory and pilot scale are developed for promising strains. Furthermore bioactive substances are produced on laboratory scale for analytical purposes.
