Investigation and Development of an underground irrigation system
Abstract
The quality of sport turf surfaces (ballgame fields as well like golf) is dependent on many factors. Optimal water and ground air supply is essential on that occasion. A direct in the lawn root zone installed "Under floor tube system" (out of rubber recycling material) can provide the turf very efficiently with water (no evaporation losses!).Deficiency of oxygen in the ground air is the most frequent cause of bad turf growth that is the reason, why the pertinent norms intend the application of accordingly porous root zone soil mixtures.By ventilation at the point in the soil with the hoses, this problem can be counteracted.Since the "Under floor tube system" or "sweat tube" are a completely new air and water supply system, following questions have to be clarified: Which positive influence can be gained with it on the lawns? Which technical preconditions are necessary for it? The Under floor tube system providing turf irrigation, turf fertilization and turf ventilation is unique. It is to be expected, that the new developed system can be an advantageous complete solution after presentation of all empirically verifiable research data for the first time, energy costs can be saved as well as resources like water, fertilizer etc..
