Policy analysis of 'timber certification' as a market-based instrument of forest policy to promote sustainable multifunctional management of forests.
Abstract
The main purpose of this projekt is to provide the EU-Commission's services with the necessary decision support data for decisions on fomulation of policies related to 'Timber Certification' by: 1. the elaboration of a set of Helsinki-process related basic criteria on sustainable forest management applicable on the manegement unit level. 2. the evaluation of the demand for (a) 'Timber Certification'-programme(s). 3. the evaluation of the potential impact (i.e effectiveness and efficiency) of 'Timber Certification' as a market conform policy instrument to safeguard market potential of wood, to enhance sustainable forest management and enable value-added wood production.
