Abstract
The current methodology to control and operate the biogas process is mainly based on the principle of “actio and reactio”. This approach does not reveal detailed information about the microbiology of the process. The development of a molecular biological method will allow a monitoring of the microbial actions on which the biogas production is based and will therefore provide in-depth information about operational disorders and the ability to increase the process efficiency.
