Wildlife and Roads - Reducing wildlife-vehicle accidents
Abstract
For the conversion of the aims of the project it requires thorough searches to the problem collection (present situation, aquisition of the game-vehicle-accident dimensions, etc.) and possibilities and experiences of game accident avoidance already existing. On basis of past research results (literature search, participation of specialized experts), available game numbers and accident statistics (authorities, insurance companies, hunting association, etc.), as well as field research and testing prevention methods (test districts), crucial factors (density of traffic, game density, biotope structures, seasonality, prevention methods, etc.) and any significant connections are to be determined. On this basis proposals for a better planning and application of existing measures and/or new measures are discussed under costs/use considerations. Recommendations for (improvements of) measures regarding the reduction of game-vehicle-accidents and resuming steps (any further research need; local and/or nationalcountry wide initiatives and projects, etc.) are the main goal of the project.
