Grey heron breeding pairs and breeding sites in Lower Austria 2009 - 2013
Abstract
Starting with the winter period 2003/04 the provincial government of Lower Austria issued a time-limited regulation, which allows the harassment and shooting of grey herons in the country. An accompanying monitoring program was asssigned. Between 2009 - 2013 two surveys will take place to collect data about the acutal number of grey heron breeding pairs and the status of the breeding localities. The survey program will also include site control by plane along the river March; official records about shot grey herons will be evaluated.
