Abstract
Analysis of ecomic effects of the measures within the programme „Energiezukunft 2030 der Oberösterreichischen Landesregierung“ funded by the province of Upper Austria. In 2005, total worldwide energy consumption was 500 EJ (= 5 x 1020 J) (or 138,900 TWh) with 86.5% derived from the combustion of fossil fuels, although there is at least 10% uncertainty in that figure.[1] This is equivalent to an average energy consumption rate of 15 TW (= 1.5 x 1013 W). Not all of the world's economies track their energy consumption with the same rigor, and the exact energy content of a barrel of oil or a ton of coal will vary with quality.
