Biogenic materials for high design requirements
Abstract
A lot of furniture producers are on their limit concerning their technological feasibility. Their aim was to manufacture furniture of three dimensional structures in order to realize the current trend. Furniture made of traditional material (flat wood panels) are lacking of creative possibilities in respect of coloration, brilliance and structure of finish etc. Because of these reasons the goal of this project is to develop an appropriate composite which facilitates that each of its components (reinforcing fibre, matrix and surface) is based on renewable raw material. These new green products can be moulded in one layer or as sandwich construction in complex 3D-shapes. During the forming process the moulding can be coated in one step with a high gloss finish to reduce the production costs.
