Evaluation of the measure "Environmentally friendly slurry application"
Abstract
Environmentally friendly slurry application is financially supported via the Austrian "ÖPUL" programme. The aim of the project was to find out which percentage of slurry was applied with low emission techniques. A cooperation between BOKU and LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein surveyed Austrian machinery rings. 8.69 % of Austrian slurries were applied with low emission techniques in 2009 and received a financial incentive of 1 EURO per m3 of slurry. The low emission application reduced ammonia emissions by 649 779 kg N and CO2 emissions by 4 841.78 t CO2. As the potential for low emission application is by far not fully exploited, it is strongly recommended to continue the financial support of low emission application.
