Yew gene reserve "Stilwoll": New inventory after storm event
Abstract
The yew gene reserve „Stiwoll“ exhibits a high population density making it a reserve of greater importance for Europe. The establishment of a permanent monitoring system combined with three different management trials tarted in 2005 by the research group “Klumpp – Vacik” in cooperation with the “Styrian Forest Authority”. Unfortunately the upper tree layer was destroyed by storm in 2008, which makes a new inventory of the trial site necessary. The actual project aims in a first analysis of the effects caused by the 2005 management trials as well as in the analysis of the new situation of growing yew without the shelter of a mixed conifer-broadleaved forest
