Development of criterias for UHMPE- synthetic ropes (Dyneema) in forestry use to determine their possible useful
Abstract
The project’s goal is to develop criteria that facilitate the decision weather a UHMPE-fiber-rope has to be replaced or not. Structural alterations of the rope’s surface and an identifiable loss of fibers are assumed as potential indicators for replacement criteria after frequent use of the ropes. Within this project there will be investigated if there exists a correlation between the indicators mentioned above and a reduction in breaking force. Out of the results replacement criteria that are simple identifiable for users will be derived. In addition the results can show differences in abrasion resistance of various products.
