Sustainable Management of Cormorant Populations
Abstract
The main goals and project activities are 1. to establish a website working as a virtual informative platform for exchange and dissemination of information across the EU. The platform would allow exchange of experiances and practice with regard to Great Cormorant management, as well as the dissemination of best practice on solutions to reduce the impact of Great Cormorants on fisheries, fish stocks and aquaculture; 2. to support a methodology and mechanism for collecting statistics regarding the populations and the biology of the Great Cormorants across the EU and their impact on fisheries by enhancing further data collection. This data collection (breeding and wintering census) will ensure that suitable scientific information is made available.
