Power trough Resilience of Energy Systems: Energy Crises, Trends and Climate Change
Abstract
This project provides measures and pathways how to increase the resilience of energy systems in the view of possible energy crises, trends and climate change. The analysis will include the following steps: (1) quantify the impact of climate change on energy systems, (2) quantify the impact of trends and possible crises on energy systems, (3) investigate adaptation measures and concepts for increasing the resilience and quantify the impact of transition paths on resilience indicators, (4) analyse economic impacts and discuss strengths and limitations of economic concepts for assessing adaptation measures. We will consider the following energy sectors: (A) hydro power, (B) heating and cooling of buildings, (C) selected aspects of cooling water availability for thermal power plants and industry and (D) electricity generation, storage and transmission. The contribution of BOKU-Met is mainly in (1) and (2)
