Abstract
The Romanian Danube, between the villages Calarasi and Braila (river-km 375-175), is a near natural anabranched river section. For improvement of the navigation, discharge alteration and blocking of side channels will be implemented. Within a team of international fish ecologists, the impacts on the fish community will be assessed. This will be documented by changes in species composition and reproductive success.
