Considering spatial planning in housing subsidies
Abstract
The topic "sustainability" is often discussed in relation to spatial planning and urban design issues. multi-functional, moderately dense settlement structures apply as particularly future-compatible. On the one hand these structures are seen as the base of a secure quality of life. On the other hand they are making the technical and social infrastructure economically and environmentally efficient. From the perspective of energy planning these spatial structures should be encouraged as well, since the energy efficiency in the heating and transport sector and the supply by renewable energy sources will be supported. However, the planning instruments of spatial planning alone do not guarantee for settlements of such structures. Only through appropriate funding instruments, such as housing subsidies (Wohnbauförderung), the corresponding targets are being achieved. The project aims to determine a model to account for spatial planning issues in this funding scheme.
