Comparison of methods and tools for integrated spatial and energy planning
Abstract
Due to the work on spatial dimensions of the energy turn towards more energy efficient and sustainable energy supplies based on renewable energy sources a new field with in spatial planning emerged in Austria - “Energieraumplanung” (integrated energy and spatial planning). In recent years many planning tools were elaborated that deal with this link between energy and spatial planning. This study aims at collecting and categorizing such tools with respect to their relevance in planning practice and shall support planning practitioners to integrate energy issues into spatial planning. This study shall contribute to the implementation of the Austrian Spatial Development Concept (ÖREK 2011).
